Here are 5 natural remedies you can make at home for strong, healthy nails.
You will need 2 tablespoons of clay powder, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 6 drops of lavender essential oil. Mix the ingredients in a bowl until you get a smooth paste and use it to massage your hands and nails. Leave it on for 15 minutes and repeat the treatment 3 times a week.
Treatment for yellow nails
Yellow nails usually occur from using low-quality or dark-coloured nail polish without applying a base coat. In order to get rid of this unpleasant condition, you will need a mixture of 3 tablespoons whitening toothpaste and 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice. Apply the paste on your clean nails using a brush or cotton pad and leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and you will notice your nails regaining their natural colour.
Olive oil massage
A very effective remedy for fragile nails is an olive oil and vitamin E massage every night before bed. You can use liquid vitamin E or, if you can’t find any, crush a couple of vitamin E capsules, available at any drugstore. Put some olive oil in a small bowl and heat it up until it’s slightly warm, then add the vitamin E. Dip your fingers cuticle-deep in the oil and keep them in for at least 15 minutes. Massage the excess onto the nails and cuticles and use a rich hand moisturizer in the morning.
Honey and coconut oil mask
Prepare a mixture from 2 tablespoons pure honey and 1 tablespoon coconut oil. Coat your hands and nails with the mixture and keep it on overnight, using a pair of rubber gloves. Honey and coconut oil both have moisturizing and regenerating qualities, so both your hands and nails can benefit from this mask, especially if you have sensitive skin that doesn’t tolerate essential oils.
Castor and lime oil mask
Using the same method, combine 2 tablespoons castor oil with 20 drops lime essential oil. Both castor and lime oil are claimed to have fortifying properties for hair and nails, so use this mask generously 2 nights a week.
